The book I recommend as guide for effective stretching is The Wharton's Stretchbook by Jim and Phil Wharton, a father-son team of physical therapists who specialize in working with athletes.
They also wrote a book that specifically addresses back problems; it is called The Wharton's Back Book.
Understanding Being Human
To Touch Is to Live by Mariana Caplan is a great book that describes why it is crucial for humans to touch and be touched in a safe way.
Everyday Common Sense Spiritual Guidance
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz are simple suggestions that make life more understandable and easy.
